Tests and Exams

Students registered for academic accommodations are responsible for notifying Accessible Learning Services of their test, midterm, and final exams that they wish to use their accommodations for. This ensures that any arrangements necessary to ensure a smooth testing experience are taking care of in advance by the Exam Coordinator. Please read the 鈥淲hat to Expect鈥 and 鈥淭esting Room Expectation鈥 sections carefully before coming to write your test.


Scheduling a Test or Midterm?

Complete our online at least 7 days prior to your test. We require this notice to ensure that a room and a proctor can be assigned.

鈥 If you have a class right after your test, please inform us in the "additional information" section; including if you would like to start early to accommodate the extra time
鈥 Please select 鈥渟end me a receipt of my response鈥 at the end of the form so that you have a record of the submission.
鈥 Requests submitted with less than 7 days notice cannot be scheduled.

Please submit a new request with updated date and time if your test time has been changed.


Scheduling a Final Exam?

The Final Exam request form will be open for submissions in February once the final exam schedule is posted. All requests to write final exams with accommodations must be received no later than 11:59pm on Friday, March 8, 2024.

Once the exam schedule is posted, we send out several reminders to students registered for accommodations. Students will have a month to submit their final exam requests to allow sufficient time to coordinate logistics. Please note that we are unable to accept requests after the deadline unless due to unforeseen circumstances.

What to expect

What to bring:

  • Your student ID or another government-issued picture ID to confirm your identification.
  • Only material authorized by your instructor will be allowed in the exam room.
  • Personal belongings such as backpacks are not permitted in the exam room and must be left in front or outside of the room.
  • Electronic devices are not permitted unless the device is part of the test, accessibility plan, or authorized by the instructor.
  • Single-use earplugs are available. Please speak to an office staff or the proctor if needed.

Arriving for your quiz/test/exam:

  • You are to arrive 10-15 minutes prior to the start of the quiz/test/exam in Rhodes Hall Room 111 (unless different location is indicated in your confirmation email).
  • You will be directed to a testing room in Rhodes Hall.

During your quiz/test/exam:

  • Clocks are located in each room to enable you to keep track of time during the quiz/test/exam.
  • If you have any questions about the quiz/test/exam, please let the proctor know and they will contact your professor.
  • At the end of the quiz/test/exam, please give your test and other material (e.g. cue sheet, formula sheet, etc.) to the proctor.
  • If the quiz/test/exam is online, the proctor will ask to see confirmation that you have submitted before exiting the room.

Academic Integrity:

  • If you are granted permission to write your exam before or after the scheduled quiz/test/exam for the class, do not disclose or seek any information about the quiz/test/exam.
  • If you are suspected of committing an academic offense, you will be asked to stop writing your quiz/test/exam, and your instructor will be notified.

Testing room expectations

  1. Come prepared: bring your Acadia student ID, pencils, pen, calculators, laptop, water, etc. Accessible Learning can provide scrap paper, earplugs, and we have a limited quantity of calculators, pencils, etc.

  2. Any instruction from your professor is relayed through the Proctor and Exam Coordinator. If you have any questions or need clarification from questions on the test or exam for your professor, let the Proctor know and they can communicate with your professor.

  3. Before the test, you are required to put away your cellphone, smart watch, other smart devices, notes, etc. (unless otherwise instructed). Bags are to be at the front of the testing room. This is to maintain academic integrity.

  4. Be respectful of yourself, and others in the testing space.
    • Aggressive or intimidating communication or physical behaviour that leads to bodily and/or emotional harm is not tolerated, and you will be asked to leave the testing room. (澳门六合彩资料 Student Code of Conduct, Standards of Conduct #1)
    • Disruptive behaviour (speech, actions, or unreasonable demands for attention) that interferes with or obstructs instruction, learning, and/or services or access to instruction, learning, or services is not tolerated, and you will be asked to leave the testing room.   5. Engaging in conduct that is demeaning, intimidating, harassing or discriminatory towards one or more members of the Acadia community is not tolerated, and you will be asked to leave the testing room. This includes, but is not limited to, all protected characteristics under the Nova Scotia Human Rights Act. Actions such as coercion, blackmail, and hazing/intimidation are also prohibited.   6. Failure to comply: Refusal of or disregard for a reasonable and appropriate direction or request by a university employee (including proctors), contractor, RCMP or other law enforcement officer, or municipal or civil services professionals will not be tolerated, and you will be asked to leave the testing room.
